Kabbalat Shabbat Service with Zemer Choir, 7:30pm, Friday, June 22. Monthly participation of the Zemer choir illuminates the beauty of shabbat prayers and deepens our participation as we harmonize with the Zemer, enriching our experience. When the Zemer Choir sings at the fourth Shabbat every month, we bring two to three part arrangements of familiar singing prayers, or new musical settings of them. Included repertoire so far includes "Ki Eshmerah Shabbat" with a line of harmony singing the words "Shabbat Shalom", a new setting of "Yih'yu L'Ratzon" with a melody by Cantor Ray Smolover in 3 parts, and a lovely setting of the last verse of "Adon Olam" by Craig Taubman with a counter-melody in English.
