Kingston Local to Pedal 300 Miles for Climate Ride NYC-DC 2012
Kingston, NY - March 2012: Jacqi Rose Anderson will participate in the annual Climate Ride NYC-DC 2012, a multi-day cycling fundraiser and ‘green conference on wheels,’ with more than 200 cyclists traveling 300 miles from Manhattan to the nation’s capitol in Washington, DC. The ride will take place from May 19 to 23, 2012, and is designed to raise awareness of sustainability, renewable energy, climate change issues, and bicycle advocacy.
“It will be challenging to ride 300 miles in 5 days,” said Jacqi Rose, resident of Kingston. “But I could not pass up an opportunity to fundraise for so many great organizations. Climate Ride is about exchanging ideas and raising awareness about serious issues that affect our future. I want to inspire people to confront these issues, and show them that they do not have to be rich or powerful to have an effect - they just have to be determined. I’m also excited to see so much of the country from this unique perspective. It should be a beautiful ride.”
This May, Anderson will join more than 200 other riders who each must raise at least $2,400 to benefit one of more than 40 organizations, like Grist and 350.org. Jacqi Rose must reach her fundraising minimum by May 9th in order to be eligible to participate. To help her meet her goal, go to http://bike.climateride.org/participant/jacqirose
Climate Ride is the first multi-day bicycle ride to raise money for and awareness of sustainability, renewable energy, climate change, and bicycle advocacy. Participants will cycle approximately 60 miles a day, and along the way, they will hear from an impressive list of guest speakers who are leaders in sustainability and green innovation. Topics will include climate science, sustainable living, bicycle advocacy, and environmental activism.
Anderson is the Office Manager for Hudson Solar in Rhinebeck and holds a Master’s degree in Natural Health as well as a BA from Bard College. She has lived in the Hudson Valley for 10 years.
