Marlborough is centered in the Hudson Valley fruit-growing region. And while it prizes its apples, it also prizes its history. You don't want to pass by the Gomez Mill House, the oldest Orange County house on the National Historic Register. The Mill House is the earliest surviving Jewish residence in North America, and has been continuously inhabited for more than 280 years. It is richly intertwined with a complex history. It was the site of an ancient Indian ceremonial ground, a frontier trading post, the earliest extant Jewish residence in North America, the center of patriot activity in the American Revolution, and the home of writers, artists, and men of affairs. It is a house of both regional and national history. And once you've gotten your share of fruit and old homes, stop into a local restaurant like the Raccon Saloon, the oldest hotel in town, for a great meal.
