An alluring upstate community, Shawangunk offers the magnificence of the mountains for which it is named, as well the amazing Wallkill River that flows through it and other streams, creeks and lakes. Whatever your outdoor pleasure, Shawangunk offers a plethora of nature-exploring opportunities. And it's home to a two time Olympic gold medalist! Sapphire, the champion horse from Wallkill, and her equestrian jumping team, won gold medals in Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008. Apparently they breed ;em well in the Hudson Valley.
