| nathalie van mulken | | Nathalie started painting actively in the mid 80s. During her college years in Tilburg, the Netherlands, while studying for a masters degree in econometrics at Tilburg University and also studying art at the Duvelhok Art
School under Marc Mulder and Reinoud van Vught, she started creating more and more abstract works.
Over several years, Nathalie developed her own style of applying many thick and thin layers of paint. A lot of attention is given to working the surface of the painting. This technique continues to be a major component of her current style.
In 1991-1992, Nathalie studied abroad in New York City, but not until she came to San Francisco in 1994 did she find her passion for large abstract paintings. Since then she has studied painting with Roy Tomlinson and Peter Golfinopoulos. She returned to New York in 2001 to live and paint. In 2005, Nathalie moved upstate to the Catski | |
